The Issue

All low-calorie sodas claim they taste just as good as the real thing, even though they lack the most important ingredient: that thing called sugar. Plus, Zevia was an independent starter brand with a limited ad budget in a very crowded category.

The Idea

Rather than focus on taste, the campaign talked about the natural benefits in a fun tone that included actually taking a few swings at non-natural sodas. And the design of the ads was clean and refreshing, which conveyed good taste even though we never mentioned it.

 

The Results

Zevia was successful enough to significantly expand their flavor portfolio, and sales followed suit. They eventually became the number one beverage in the natural channel and the only independent soda brand in the top 20 nationwide.
